True London Podcast: The 2026 borough elections landscape

This doesn’t need a lot of introduction. Readers of On London and many other outlets will be familiar with the work of Lewis Baston, who is one of the country’s very best elections analysts and has a richly detailed understanding of the capital’s complex electoral landscape.

Lewis and I will be working closely together to provide what we hope will be top-drawer coverage of the 2026 London borough elections, following on from our joint efforts in 2018 and 2022.

We will be collaborating closely with others too, all with the aim of providing Londoners (and everyone else) with an in-depth and enjoyable understanding of the forthcoming democratic contests to win control of the capital’s 32 councils, culminating in voting on 7 May.

Big theme? Voter loyalties shifting away from the old “big two” parties towards an array of others in different quantities in different places with unpredictable and possibly chaotic effects. Let Lewis talk you through it.
